What is MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet?

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet is South Africa’s biggest community support programme which raises funds for schools and charities in order to improve education and social development.

We ensure that, through a stringent application process, we carefully select scholars with academic potential, who will be able to thrive in our private education centre.

Applying is easy

  • Apply for your MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card online or simply phone 0860 100 445 or download an application form. You can also get your card at any Woolworths store.
  • Swipe your card at retailers across the country every time you shop.
  • The store will donate a percentage of your purchase to Make A Difference Leadership Foundation, on your behalf.

How does MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet work?

  • Nominate Make A Difference Leadership Foundation as your beneficiary.
  • Swipe your card whenever you make a purchase at any partner store (these include: Woolworths, Engen Quikshops, Toys R Us, Waltons, Reggie’s, kalahari.com, Power24 and more).
  • The partner will donate a percentage of your purchases to Make A Difference Leadership Foundation

Yes, Rara Avis Foundation is a registered Public Benefit Organisation in terms of section 30 of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962. Therefore, donations to the organisation are exempt from donations tax in terms of section 56(1)(h) of the Act. Section 18A(1) of the Act provides for a deduction in terms of donations made in the form of cash or certain types of assets made, inter alia, to PBOs approved under section 30(1). This is provided that the donor is in possession of a valid receipt and that the donation does not exceed 10% of taxable income, that the donor provides a postal address, that donations are unencumbered (unconditional), that there are no contractual obligations that need to be fulfilled and no deliverables to be met in return and that Rara Avis Foundation must be free to use its discretion as to how the donation will be utilised.

Donations are contributed accordingly to what is needed at Rara Avis Foundation to continue supporting and developing our future leaders.

Yes, Rara Avis Foundation is a level 1 B-BBEE Contributor. Contributing 1% of your net profit after tax to our organisation will achieve the full score of 5 points for socio-economic development spend.

The revised codes make it possible to contribute up to 6% (up from 3%) of payroll (leviable amount) to either employees or non-employees or a combination of both. Through our scholarship programme, corporate funds split over the economically active population and allocated to bursaries for our scholars (above age 16 through tertiary level) qualify as skills development spend. By contributing to our programme, you can achieve points for category A (bursaries) on the Skills Development priority element.

We are always eager to support new, and unique, fundraising initiatives and have many generous individuals who do so. We also have plenty of fundraising events a year in running, cycling and golfing events and art auctions – both national and international.
